Family Law Overview

When a husband and wife separate, there are a number of potential claims. The most common claims include: 1) custody of children, 2) support of children, 3) post separation support and alimony for a spouse, 4) equitable distribution of property and debts, and 5) divorce.

Most all of the claims can be resolved by agreement, except for divorce. In order to obtain a divorce, it is necessary to file a lawsuit and have a judge enter a judgment of absolute divorce.

Our firm represents clients in court actions involving all of the claims above. We also represent clients in domestic violence situations.

Our firm prepares premarital agreements (also known as prenuptial agreements), post-marital agreements, and separation and property settlement agreements.
